cupcakes 'n' costco

see the fruits of my labor? cutest cupcakes this side of the mississippi. if they were in a pageant, they'd win. why? b/c they're beautiful, but they taste good too - buttercream icing w/ strawberry cake - so, they'd kick ass in the talent + interview portion as well.

for the bows, i used strawberry-flavored bubble gum tape that i bought at toys 'r' us for $2.19 a roll. that seemed expensive (remember bazooka for a nickel?), but i went ahead and bought 2 b/c i feared if i waited to find something cheaper, i wouldn't. wouldn't ya know it? i ran into it for 99 cents a roll the next day. fudgsicles.

see? friday nights at home need not be unproductive nor self-destructive.

not much time to write today, but just wanted to note that i went to costco this morning. i needed to pick up supplies for k's shower this afternoon. i love that place. all the big packages of things! it's like toys 'r' us for grownups! my hoarding instinct kicks in when i'm there, and it suddenly seems completely logical that i should need a 2 gallon jar of skippy peanut butter, 5 pounds of baby carrots, and a value-pak of 6 Secret deodorants (how bad can a girl's b.o. be?). of course, being a city-dweller i have tons of room to store 24 rolls of toilet paper that seem like SUCH A GREAT DEAL! not. somehow, i managed to escape without falling victim to the need to indulge in retail therapy. i am restricted by my little old woman cart - it can only hold so much. the pb did not make the cut. just shower supplies, fish oil capsules, and one-a-day vitamins. not real exciting, but i gotta counteract all that buttercream icing i sampled somehow.

found your blog looking for cupcake ideas for my daughter's first birthday party...and having a "fat day" or rather, an ineffectural trapped mother day, and you made me feel great. keep writing. when she wakes up from her nap we're headed out for strawberry duncan hines.

you absolutely made my day, jen!

let me know if you need the recipe for icing and don't forget to make extra. ( :

and just for the record, anyone who births ANYTHING is not ineffectual.
